Las Campanas Peak
Panoramic view from the summit of Las Campanas Peak (elevation: 8,250 feet) in the Atacama Desert. This is the future-site of the Giant Magellan Telescope (GMT). On the left, the Magellan Telescopes (Baade and Clay) are clearly visible; on the right, La Silla Observatory is visible in the distance. This view is from nearly 4,000 feet and depicts Mona Loa in the background and a small cinder cone near its base.
