How does one collect information about the world? The senses allow for a signal or stimulus to be translated into knowledge. In this week's laboratory, we have explored a basic approach to send a long distance message using only vision.

As an example, pulses of light which vary in length and pattern are received as an unfamiliar signal to the brain. Creating a standard translation key, however, allows one to alter an incoherent stimulus into knowledge.
