- NASA Lunar Science and Exploration to Excite Your Students About Science and Mathematics
Presented by Jim B. Fitzgerald (Aerospace Education Specialist), NASA Glenn Research Center
Facilitators: Walter Glogowski and Sherry Shelley
This workshop will provide participants with demonstrations of how to access and incorporate NASA Mission & Education resources into their existing curriculum and inquiry based activities that model current teaching techniques. NASA Lunar Science and Exploration Missions have provide many valuable resources for teachers to use with their students. These will be discussed and participants will be certified to borrow from NASA Lunar and Meteorite Sample Disks. These are samples obtained by Astronauts on the Apollo Missions and provided to teachers through this Lunar Sample Loan Certification Workshop.
- NASA Lunar Science and Exploration to Excite Your Students About Science and Mathematics
- 3:00pm - 5:30pm Skynet Telescopes and Afterglow Image Processor
- Presented by Dr. Daniel Reichert and his team from the Univ. of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, featuring Prompt and Skynet Telescope Networks and on-the-web image processor, Afterglow.
- 5:30pm - 8:00pm Break for Dinner and Rest
- 8:00pm - 11:00pm Observing and Imaging with Digital Cameras and CCDs on Telescopes
- Spend an evening learning with Yerkes Teachers experienced in using telescopes and imaging technology. And/or just brush up on your knowledge of the night sky. Dress warmly! You may bring your digital camera, your favorite telescope, and/or some snacks to share!
