9:00am - Noon       Seeing the Moon in a Whole New Light

Brought to you by Teacher Lynne Zielinski, Yerkes Observatory Teachers, NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Mission and other NASA missions and Resources, the Yerkes Astrophysics Academy for Young Scientists, and the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA).

  9:00  Introduction to the Day

  9:15  What's New with the Moon?

10:00   Introduction to IDL and Gridview Software to display and interact with data from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO)

10:30   Break

10:45   Work with LRO Lunar Orbiter Laser Altimeter (LOLA) data on IDL and Gridview.

If time permits teachers will also be able to work with Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter (MOLA) data.

Noon   Break for Lunch

1:30pm - 4:00pm    Afternoon Small Group Sessions
