Trapezium Stars |
Trapezium Stars inside the Orion Nebula.
The reddish glow in Orion's sword is the Orion Nebula (M42 or NGC1976).
Inside the nebula are four bright young stars. These four stars (A, B, C, D) are called the Trapezium, because they resemble a trapezoid. The alphabetical labels are arranged from West (on the right) to East (on the left). Look for this pattern in a Hubble Space Telescope image of the Orion Nebula.
