| HOU-IP Menu & Toolbars | Go to the Apple Menu on a MAC or the Start Menu on a
PC. Choose HOU or Hands-On Universe Image Processing. ![]() |

Click You may have to choose "all files", to see
the file name. |
| Status Bar | Look for the status bar at the bottom right of the HOU-IP
window. It tells you the position of your cursor and the counts of
the pixel for that position. Pixel means 'picture element'. If
you move the cursor around on the image you can see how the status bar
information changes. Counts represent the amount of light that was
captured at that pixel by the CCD camera. The status bar positions,
x: 264, y: 240 show that the cursor is centered on the central star of the
Ring Nebula. |

| LOG | On the menu bar you will
see Then click on log again to turn log scaling off. |

| Color | ||
| Min / Max | When you find the settings you like make a note of the min and max values. |
|
| Reset Min/Max | Restore the original Min / Max settings. On the menu bar, go
to View |
