Orientation of images is approximately North up, East left. Small resized/cropped pictures are linked to full images. The University of Chicago's Yerkes Observatory, 24 inch telescope, with a focal length of 324 inches (823cm) equipped with an Apogee Ap7p CCD camera (24 micron pixels) yields images with 0.6 arcseconds/pixel.   Images are approximately 500 by 500 pixels; the resulting field of view is approximately 5 arcminutes square.  Objects are imaged in response to  HOU requests or by teachers and students visiting the observatory.   Object names are linked to image.fts files for downloading and opening with HOU-IP or other fits viewers.  Click here to download any .fts image. or click on the M# of each object to link to that fts file for download.  Images taken for HOU™ by Vivian Hoette.

Images taken at University of Chicago's Yerkes Observatory, 24 inch telescope, Apogee-CCD AP7p camera, in cooperation with Hands-On Universe (HOU), and the Illinois SKYWatch NFSI project..  Apogee CCD camera provided by Illinois State Board of Education for SKYWatch project. 

FITS images are viewable with Hands-On Universe Image Processing program or other fits viewers.  Pixel Scale is 0.6 arcseconds per pixel.  The field of view for full images is about 5 arc minutes.  Need HOU software to manipulate and analyze fts files? Follow this link to HOU project participation.
