You may wish to save a movie to your computer rather than playing it from the webpage, unless you are on a very fast connection.

This movie is just a few minutes of video of Mars taken at 1:38 am Central Standard Time (CST) from the 24 inch telescope at The University of Chicago Yerkes Observatory.  The image is inverted; south is up. So, you see the southern polar cap at the top.  You can see the variation in seeing and notice moments that are more and less clear.  This variation is caused by our atmosphere.

These images represent captured video frames that were enhanced through image processing techniques by our HOU collaborator, Bob Holmes.

Mars August 18th 11:35 pm CST and August 19th 2:55 am CST.  These images were taken 2 hours 20 minutes apart, with The University of Chicago's Yerkes 24 inch telescope.  The color is a combination of I, V, and U filtered images.

Mars August 24th, 11:40 pm and August 25, 3:00 am, CST.  These images were taken taken 3 hours 20 minutes apart.

Mars August 5th, 2003, 1:11 am to 1:46 am CST. These images are 30 minutes apart.

Yerkes 24 inch telescope, Apogee AP7p CCD.

Eventually fts images will be in the HOU Database 'Get Images' for all our nights of imaging...
