Mars.... Mars' faint features have always sparked the curiosity of amateur and professional astronomers.    This Mars image is from the Leuschner Observatory at the University of California.

Mars ... Do you see Evidence of Rotation?

Walter Wild, a University of Chicago astronomer, took these Mars images using a special methane filter.  The images were taken 46 minutes apart at the University of Chicago's Yerkes Observatory with the 41 inch reflector.

The images are displayed here in false color. Open the images (mars615.fts and mars701.fts) yourself and determine the best display to show evidence of rotation.

HOU Educators: Download these .fts images of Mars.
