To Make Finder Charts for Observing
*Skyview Virtual Observatory
http://skyview.gsfc.nasa.gov/ Choose Advanced. http://skyview.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/skvadvanced.plType in Object Name or Coordinates
Survey: Digitized Sky SurveyOptional Parameters:
Image size: 300x300 or 400x400 or 500x500
Image Size: Default to .3 or .4 or .5 degrees
Brightness Scaling: Log(10) to Linear
Color Table: Stern Special to B-W Linear
Grid: Yes if you need coodinates, No for just finding chart.
Submit Request Now
Look for Request results in a new web window!Overlays: Helpful Catalogs for Research Projects when you are doing analysis; usually not necessary for just finding charts.
Select with Ctrl key if more than one catalog. This is useful for finding names of stars, magnitudes, or galaxies names, etc.
To Find Right Ascension and Declination Coordinates for Requesting Images of Solar System Objects:
*Astronomical Sky Calendar
Select Yerkes Observatory
Gives Moon's RA and Dec Coordinates by Date
http://imagiware.com/astro/skycalendar.cgi
*On-Line Ephemeris Generator
Choose Yerkes Observatory from Display List of World Observatories
http://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eph
Select Target Body. Generate Ephemeris.
Gives RA and Dec and other data of Solar System bodies for each date at
midnight.*Planet and Moon Positions, 15th of the Month
