Jupiter Sequences
Fts Images
The Rooftop Telescope at Yerkes was put to work on January 19th, 2002 for two hours. These two images were taken at 1:41 UT and 3:03 UT. The weather was partly cloudy, turning to mostly cloudy. Only two images were taken.
Hmmm, which moon is which???
Download these .fts images here. Analyze the brightness of the moons with the aperture tool. Remember the order of brightness of the moons is Ganymede, Io, Europa and Callisto, brightest to dimmest. Add or subtract these two images to see the motion during one hour and 22 minutes. Explain how the moons moved in their orbits during these two observations and from the 18th to the 19th.
