    Survey Simulations

    Clem Pryke has been developing increasingly sophisticated simulations of the SZA instrument using as input simulated maps of the SZ sky provided by a number of people working in the large scale structure field. One set of these maps was generated by Gus Evrard of University of Michigan. The aim of these simulations is to help optimize the SZA layout and observing strategy for the detection of clusters above a well defined mass. One such simulation is shown below:

    The left panel shows a simulation of the Sunyaev-Zeldovich sky, while the right panel shows a simulated mosaic map of this patch of sky using the SZA. This simulation assumes a survey rate of 20 days per square degree. Click on the image for a larger version.
