Irina Zhuravleva, "Clusters of Galaxies as Astrophysical Laboratories"
Faculty Research Seminar: Oct 22 @ 12 PM, ERC 545
Although, clusters of galaxies gravitationally-bound hundreds and thousands of galaxies, their most massive baryonic component is in the form of a very hot gas with the temperature up to a hundred million degrees. Such gas emits in X-rays and is also detected in sub-mm through the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect.
