About me, me and me
So, you decided to check me out.....
Well, as you probably already know my name is Caesar (Jesse) Wirth.
Casear is the name i got when i was born and it still is my "official" name.
Jesse is my nickname i got here in the US.There is a story behind that but i'm
not going into that now....
I was born in
Switzerland.
To be more exact in Wetzikon in the canton of
Zurich .
Wetzikon, which is about 30 min. from the biggest city in Switzerland - Zurich, in case
you didn't know - is a town of about 17000 people. There are various industries there
from soaps and detergents (Palmolive) to trucks (Mercedes) to doorlocks (Kaba-Bauer)
and a lot of other companies.
Well, eventually, when i got older i had to go to school (doesn't everybody !?!?)
After the mandatory 9 years of elementary and highschool (or whatever
that is called....) i started (and finished...) an apprenticeship as "Fernmelde- und Elektronikapparatemonteur".In a nutshell, this education involved electronic/electrical engineering, mechanical design, machining and drafting. At the end of this four year program there was an exam which lasted roughly a week. One part was oral and theory and the second part was pratical, where you actually had to do stuff hands-on.
The goal of this particular education was that at the end of the four years one should be able to design (electronic and mechanical) and build
a project.....
Anyway,.... living/growing up in CH (that stands for Confoederatio Helvetica ) in the "center" of Europe you're bound to do some traveling.During summer vacation i bought a Eurail-pass, packed my backpack and off i went ....all over Europe.
In the winter, there was skiing......
Eventually i had enough of Europe and i made plans for the "big jump".
The United States of America.
In February 1984 i took a leave of absence from my job as service engineer
and packed my bags again.Intending to travel for six months, go back
and resume my job, i arrived in Miami.
We (a buddy of mine and me) bought a van and started the american adventure.Neither one of us spoke english (besides yes,no,cool, please and
beer, that is...) so the first few weeks were pretty interesting - language-wise that is...
When we got to San Diego (California) we split up and i acquired a motorcycle.Exploring the US in a van was pretty cool but on two wheels
it's awesome...The only way to go....
Well, out of those planned six months became a year, then two, three....you get the idea.
And i'm still here.....not in a nice cozy place like Florida or California but in Wisconsin (hey, i'm not complaining....).
This was just a rough, short break-down of my life so far. There are a lot of "buts" and "ifs" and i left quite a few things out.Even so, now you should know why there is a Swiss flag on my homepage .Then again, maybe not......
That's the long and short of it.....and to make one thing clear: I am NOT an illegal alien.
I did go through the whole LEGAL red tape hoopla to get the green card....
