David Barnaby at the South Pole in summer and winter.
David Barnaby was a winterover for SPIREX (one of CARA's telescopes) in 1997. The first picture is Dave during summer, not long after he arrived, when the Sun was still up. The second picture is Dave standing in the same place, but 6 months later, after the Sun set. It just looks cold, doesn't it? These pictures are near the Ceremonial South Pole; at least in the first one, you can see the Dome of Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in the background. Photos CARA/D. Barnaby
