Summer Research Experiences for Undergraduate
Minorities and Women:
Summer 2002

The National Science Foundation makes possible a number of opportunities for undergraduates to join research projects each summer. This allows students to experience first-hand how basic research is carried out, and to contribute consequentially. The principal support by NSF of such activities is through the Research Experiences for Undergraduates Program. This year, we anticipate that eight astronomical research internships will be awarded. Women and underrepresented minorities are strongly encouraged. Participants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are enrolled in (but not yet graduated from) an accredited undergraduate college degree program with a concentration in a math, science, or engineering field.
