Here are some of the labs and lesson plans used by instructors during
the Yerkes Summer Institute (YSI) in August 1993.

- Photometry of Stars and
Clusters.
- (night lab, written and taught by Dr. Jim Sweitzer)
By determining the distance to Arcturus and the globular cluster M92,
we derive a distance scale for the Galaxy.
- Camera Obscura and
Filter.
- (day lab, written and taught by Dr. Jim Sweitzer)
We learn about film and cameras, and we take a picture of the Sun.
