Pole News-

  1. ABU — on and running
  2. SPARO - is cold and functioning.
  3. AGO- up and working. Backup up power source in place for heat this winter.
  4. Viper — plans are to start winter with corona dewar on viper and then change over to SPARO.
  5. AST/RO — summer liquid helium supply still a problem. Out of the 4-250 liter dewars only 1/2 made it to the Pole.
  6. Winter helium should arrive on the 4th of February in McMurdo. John Davis and Roopesh will train on helium transfer at McMurdo.

Other-

Tony has been invited to give report to the Decadel Committee on the 19th and 20th of February. Tony will be putting up a draft document on the web today for everyone to review.

Steve has been contacted by the Decadel Committee to give a report in late March on Optical IR and Antarctic Astronomy. We need to have site characterization on the web before that time. We should also prepare information on the Pole as an observatory. The IR team was asked to prepare the Optical IR report.
