Holzapfel UCSB: Approval of previous minutes: None Agenda Items News from the Pole: Cold. Tau was bad last week. As we get toward sunrise weather not as good, but weather is getting a little better than it was last week. AST/RO has been observing on 13 carbon. Acbar is shut down and the warm up process went well. Yesterday the fill on AST/RO was successful (meaning that there was some helium) we will see if in the next 4 days if there is any helium left in the 250 liter dewar. C. Kaminski reported that the tables were made and things re-arranged as R. Pernic requested. DASI is plugging away. All station is waiting for sunrise. AST/RO - T. Stark reported that they are writing papers and getting ready for summer season at Pole. AST/RO is working on 1.5 THz laser. NASA developed the THz receiver for SOFIA. At Pole AST/RO will be working on polestar. 2002/2003 season will see many more changes to AST/RO. Acbar - data is being analyzed and team is getting ready for the next season. Data from Acbar has been received in Calif. in ready time. SPARO will begin observing early in the season. DASI - plugging away. One of the hemp data receivers may have been lost. N. Halverson is defending his Thesis today. Deployment - R. Pernic reported that at this point it is very hard to change the deployment schedule even by a day. Final report will be worked out with R. Morse and Raytheon today after that we will need to live with the schedule as is. R. Pernic was considering W. Holzapfels request. Substation for Helium - received input from Pole. J. Ruhl and J. Carlstrom working on CARA position paper. J. Peterson to send to J. Carlstrom and J. Ruhl M. Newcombs memo on his thoughts for a substation. 500-1000 litter dewars are side filling/unloading dewars and do not need a tall space to accommodate. Annual Report - Collection of highlights of CARA should consist of 1/2 paragraph from each project describing accomplishment of each project. Each project submission should be somewhat self-contained (stand-alone) as this section is passed through NSF. Deadline of Wednesday. Site characterization and results should be included. Powerful, short and self-contained is the guideline for these highlights. "Power Point Science"
