Ruhl Approval of previous minutes: It was requested that CARA members review the previous minutes and send changes/corrections and approval via email to John Carlstrom. Agenda Items News from the Pole: C. Martin reported that the past week was exciting with the landing and talk off the twin otter aircraft. The aircraft landed at noon Pole time and left at 5AM. Everyone was at Pole was tired and after resting over the weekend is now ready to get back to the normal routine. AST/RO is about to switch to the 492 Carbon I observing. Viper is plugging along. (Connection with the Pole was interrupted and Pole was unable to sustain communication after this point.) T. Stark reported that AST/RO is collecting data for outside proposals of the HDO line. There is excitement among these proposers about the data that is being collected. AST/RO will finish these proposals and then go on to the galactic center observations. DASI is going well. Entire focus of the group has been on getting the papers out. Findings were reported during a special session in Washington. Major newspapers are carrying the story on the front page "above the fold". The DASI group will be submitting 3 papers within the next few moments. Discussion on bet with AST/RO group regarding published papers. Stark conceded that one case of beer would be sent to the DASI group. J. Carlstrom reported that D. Peacock is working on the new proposals that were submitted and PIs should be hearing this week. Funding - CARA request for year 11. NSF Grants and Agreements have finally received documentation, which is being sent to department head for final approval. UC should receive electronic notification before the end of the week. Any institution wanting a copy of this notification should contact N. Odalen with email address of individual to notify. Helium J. Ruhl reported that email was received from Raytheon on possibility of purchasing a new 4000 transport dewar for Pole. J. Ruhl was asked to visit manufacturing site in PA with Raytheon team. J. Ruhl is looking for someone on East Coast to make this visit.
