Notes about Chicago and Food
Hyde Park and Chicago
The University of Chicago has recently updated the maps and directions on
the web. Please visit the University's
map page for
maps, driving directions and parking instructions. The Ramada Inn is
located in the northeast part of Hyde Park and is good 20-30 min walk
(aprox 2 miles) from campus. The hotel should provide a shuttle in the
morning. Chicago and Hyde Park are both filled with many cultural and
culinary treats, a good resource for Chicago information is the web page
for the American Astronomical Society meeting
that will be held in early June; see specifically the page on
things to do
in Chicago. Also, please be advised that Chicago and
Hyde Park are both urban settings and one should exercise due caution at
all times (e.g., never leave luggage visible in a car).
Food Note
The Chauatauqua program does not provide for participant meals,
so you will be responsible for your own meals. However, some arrangements
have been made. Coffee will be provided each day. There will be a
reception at Adler Planetarium on Monday night with a cash bar and
appetizers, but not a full dinner. Also, in conjunction with the trip to
Fermi Laboratory on Tuesday a dinner has been scheduled at Chez Leon, at a
cost of $30/person.
