As a member of the Dark Energy Survey, I am interested in understanding better the phenomenon that is causing the universe to expand at an accelerating rate on cosmic scales. Besides probing dark energy by measuring positions, brightnesses and shapes of galaxies, my research concerns astrophysical constraints on dark matter within and surrounding our Milky Way Galaxy. Spectroscopic and photometric observations of stars in halo stellar streams are used to trace and model the Galaxy’s gravitational potential, apparently dominated by dark matter.
