Seeing was superb, the 1/4" eyepiece was used on Jupiter showing<p>
the equatorial bands with amazing definition.<p>

<u>The shutter rope is broken beyond repair</u>. Do not try to<p>
use the telescope until it is replaced. Also - note that the<p>
field of view rotates when the eyepiece is rotated - the asssembly<p>
apparently is warped and should be straightened - this imperfect<p>
alignment may be the cause of apparent astigmatism.<p>

I had the eye mount remachined we made<p>
the bushing 2" long. Tomorrow I hope to make<p>
an adaptor bushing for .965" to 1 1/4" for small<p>
eyepieces. I also hope to have made an<p>
adaptor mount for a 35mm camera made<p>
by the end of the week. Tomorrow I pick up my<p>
35mm. Viewing fair some overcast brought<p>
Tony Walts up showed him around he <u>doesn't</u><p>
seem like a prospect for the society.<p>
Viewed Antares, vega, [[epsilon]]<sup>1</sup> and [[epsilon]]<sup>2</sup>
Lyrae<p>
was able to resolve both [[epsilon]]<sup>1</sup>, [[epsilon]]<sup>2 </sup>into
component doubles.<p>
diffraction patterns were sharp around Arcturus; at slight<p>
out of focus center was deep purple edges yellow.<p>
All images were stable.<p>
Noticed the slow travel on R.A. slipps badly<p>
<u>Notice</u>: drains have a tendency to<p>
stop up when they handle photography work<p>
run hot water down them for {around}15 min <u>after</u><p>
using them. Also note that sink in main room<p>
has leak in it. keep a pan under it and sit on<p>
woloweic or engineer. Also note that both<p>
sinks are connected together when on backs up<p>
so does the other<p>
